Taking the bus out

It's been so long since I've actually used the public transport... and ...
know what?? I think I'd opt for the taxi next time regardless of how easy it seems to get on a bus.

Seriously, I tried the RapidKL... It cost me RM 2.00 for the whole trip as I had to switch with two buses to get to MidValley. My total travel time was 45 minutes from my residential college to the mall. If I were to take a taxi, from MidValley, it cost me (today) RM 1.50, approximately 15 minutes. So, in short, I'd only take the bus if I were going alone and have lots of time to spare, if not, I'd go straight for a taxi.

Muse: Assuming an acting role

Dear blog... please save me... I am heartbroken.
It seems my views are always secondary.
It seems I have taken everything for granted.
It seems I spent the most money.
It seems I am the evilest of all people for being concerned about myself.

So, I believe it is time I actually forgot myself and be an actress. But the thing is, I suck so badly at it that I believe I'll be exposed.
But over time... I am sure I would be a wonderful one.
Even if it'a lie, I'm sure the people on the receiving end of the show would be happy if they don't know it. hehe

Hopefully they don't, but if they do. DOUBTLESSLY, they'll find it hard to tell the difference because they have ideals and they would assume the unnecessary and cause misunderstandings. So, KISS, I hope I am not killing my soul.

Muse: Values

Just recently I've read an article from Calibre July 2011 issue, p.24, and I really loved the whole article about it because I do agree about the whole article.

Here's the website about what this article is entirely based on, The Foundation for a Better Life.

This foundation is really simple but really essential, I believe, in our everyday life because all of us tend to be forgetful that we are human and the other person is human and we need to continuously practice humanistic values to enjoy a better life. Mwhahahhaha... such a lengthy sentence but yeah... I love the billboard signs and posters.

And I strongly believe if we practice what we saw, it would produce a ripple effect.

For example,

Just smiling at an auntie passing by, greeting her regardless of who or what she is.
Response: Her depressed face lights up into a brilliant smile (you've just made it her day).

These are just one of the simple things I do at work everyday and it has not only made the receiver happy, it has made me happy.

All this just by being gracious and charitable with a smile. It's free!

Hence, check the URL out. We need reminders to be patient, to be inspired and to be reminded.

Recipe: Carrot Cinnamon Muffin

Today... I've finished my last supply of Gardenia Wholegrain Bread...TT.TT
I love the bread cause it's just sooooooooooo soft and so effortless...
Just take it out of the plastic bag and plop it into the toaster for a min., while waiting for it to get toasted... use the Milo 3 in 1 sachet to make a cup of nice hot chocolate... then I hear the "ding" of my toaster and wa~lah~ nice crunchy toasted bread.... slather peanut butter on top of one slice... grab a bite... finish one slice... slather peanut butter on another slice...Mmmm~~ delicious

But then... but then... it would get boring just eating this same ritualistic bread right??? right???
Nah... but I needed to not put the other baking ingredients in the kitchen to waste...XD... So I baked another muffin out of the blue~

Carrot Cinnamon Muffin
1 1/2 large carrots (finely shredded)// 1 medium sized bowl // 1 cup
1 1/4 cups of wheat flour
1 cup of oats
1/4 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of nutmeg
1/4 tsp of fennel seeds
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of vanilla extract
2 medium sized eggs
1 cup of milk
1 tbsp of baking powder
1/4 cup of oil
1/4 cup of sugar

  1. Line muffin tin with baking paper. Preheat oven to 200C.
  2. Sift the flour, salt, nutmeg, baking powder and cinnamon together in a bowl. Stir in the oats and fennel seeds until it's evenly distributed.
  3. Whisk the egg, milk, oil, sugar and vanilla extract until it's well mixed in a separate bowl.
  4. Mix the carrots together with the dry ingredients (in hopes of it not sinking to the bottom of the muffin).
  5. Mix the dry to the wet mixture (in my case it's this way cause my wet mixture is in a bigger bowl to avoid spillage). Mix it up in about six to eight strokes.
  6. Using the 1/4 cup earlier, put mixture into the baking cups.
  7. (optional) Sprinkle sesame seed and oat on top of each muffin.
  8. Bake the muffin in the oven till you're satisfied that it is sufficiently cooked.
  9. The convection oven at home took longer than necessary... I'd put mine at 35 mins next time to see how it would be like but maybe yours would take a shorter time... at about 25-30 mins..
  10. The pics will be coming out later cause I just baked it.
Verdict... First and second time rebaked came out a little undercooked, but each time I ate it, it tasted great... SO... not bad for an amateur like me... Mwahhahahahaha

Muse: Vivo Experience 1

Since I'm kind of bored... and I don't really have anything noteworthy to blog about other than some funny stuff at Vivo... so I'll just blog about that... LOL

Alright... maybe it's just me, or maybe it's my friends from Vivo.... but I seriously think that they do not really understand how service tax is charged.

Generally, service tax is charged based on the whole bill, correct? That's why it's calculated last in any enterprise.
Let's say... you use a Standard Charted Bank Account and are entitled to a 20% discount on any pizza.
Assuming a normal pizza costs RM 19.90 and a premium pizza costs RM 23.90. By purchasing 3 normal pizzas and 2 premium pizzas, what would be the total cost?

I'll provide three different situations.

In Situation 1, I assumed that all pizzas were given discounts.
In Situation 2, I assumed only 1 premium pizza was given the discount.
In Situation 3, I assumed no discount were given at all.

Basically, Situation 1 earned the most benefits when compared to the controlled factor by RM 23.65 and Situation 2 only benefited by RM 5.25.

Last Friday, there was a commotion on the above problem... Simple mathematics...
Alright... it went like this.
He ordered five pizzas, assuming that his card allowed him
*as stated on the joint promotion page ,
20 % discount on all 10'' or 13'' pizza,
he thought he was about to benefit from Situation 1's discount.

However, the company in actuality was providing just Situation 2's discount which in normal english should be...
20 % discount on any one (1) 10'' or 13'' pizza.
So how could I blame the consumer for being indignant when there's basically a problem with the company not knowing how to explain the benefits properly.

Hence, I believe there is a need for me to emphasize that proper english and simple mathematics be drilled into the heads of any aspiring entrepreneur who conducts businesses.

Muse: Silence

When silence is a bliss, it is folly to be wise.

Sometimes, it doesn't take much to listen to someone. Simply being silent, you are being wise. Simply just listening, you are being helpful. Simply just being there, you are being thoughtful.

Just a muse I'd thought important to share, after all, not all of us are able to recall how wise this step is.

Muse: Listening to colours

How often have we listened?
By listening, I don't mean just the sound you hear and comprehend but also what you listen with your five senses. The sense of sight, smell, sound, touch and taste.

It seems most of us excel in terms of smell and taste as we have the utmost practice with food as our subject.
However, what of sight, touch and sound that we do everyday?
Is it not that with constant practice we would become proficient owners of our five senses?
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.
With constant use of it, most of us have taken our senses for granted.
Why else would a person walk further away when they see another being violent?
Why else would a person speak louder when another is speaking?
Why else would a person hit the other?

Is it because humanity has been lost? I'm not sure.
Is it because of one being stubborn? I'm not sure.
Is it because of one doing so in their aim of bringing peace? I'm not sure.

Since returning home, I'm horrified at how despicable people can be.
However a reality is a reality. Running away from reality would simply mean I'm living in a fantasy. But what good would living a fantasy be when a fantasy would just be temporary? After all, a lifetime isn't a temporary thing. It's a lifelong commitment. And how could temporary fit the bill?

I've lived my life, listening to others.
Directly or indirectly, I've done it so many times till I hate people conversing when I do work as I involuntary listen.
Movements, conversation, changes in scenery.
I love to listen to the changes and appreciate them.
That is why, I wouldn't need to travel all around the world to feel happy, I simply walk to feel happy.
A change in scenery, a change in air, a change in sound. The ripples, the music, the colours.
That's why I love shopping malls.
I can simply walk for hours at the grocery section and feel darn happy without spending a dime.
I know it's weird... that's why I only do it once or twice or thrice or quad times a month at the grocery section...XD
Okayx2... Often enough to make me feel guilty...
But it makes me incredibly happy to do those rounds (which lasts for 2-4 hours).
Seriously.
At least it's cheaper than going vacation at some secluded island and not remembering much from that vacation(which goes for me).

Muse: Sleeping on the Road

Have you ever encountered such a situation... when you just suddenly go "poof" and nap on the wheels?
Well... I do... not just once but at all stops when there's a long queue.
That's why, whenever it's raining heavily... a long queue... short stops... I really abhor them as I'm really afraid that I'd just suddenly nap behind the wheels.
It's really scary how involuntary it is and how it happens but this has happened not just once or twice... but almost each time I'm on the wheels... even if the music is blaring... even if I talk to myself... this scenario repeats.
It's scary, so scary that I shiver each time I wake up... reminded of the accident I had sleeping on the wheels on a rainy day on a bridge with heavy traffic.
So... how often have I realized?
Well... as a start, when I was returning home today, I've napped at every stop I made.
Luckily it was all on flat ground with the car's gear on neutral.
However, what if I'm on an inclined road? Like the day of the accident going downhill and I rammed into the car in front?
Well, I've had instances like that before too....
The difference was this time I'm going uphill.
The first time I accidentally napped, I recovered soon enough to step on the brakes... the second time, I reprimanded myself and luckily no car was behind, the third time, the hand brakes that I put on while neutral suddenly let out and fortunately it was a repeat of the second.

It's scary isn't it? But what am I to do? Maybe I should try to increase my blood pressure faster to see if these scenarios wouldn't happen again. After all, I was feeling alright before I drove the car in all situations... So what else can it be?

Yoghurt Cinnamon Muffins

Hesitant to waste all the good yoghurt that was due to be expired next week...
Yes... I basically tried to make a yoghurt muffin with all the leftover yogurt from my previous bran muffins (can't make bran muffins cause there were no more raisins at home...TT.TT)...
However, the only problem that arose is that there isn't any specific recipe for me to refer for such a recipe, so this time, I basically dumped what I liked ( a little ) to pop this recipe out.

Yogurt cinnamon muffins
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1/3 cup soft brown sugar, a little on the excess side
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
2 eggs
1-1/4 cup plain yogurt
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup of toasted pecans (chopped)
1/4 cup of toasted walnuts (chopped)

  1. Preheat the oven at 200C
  2. Sift together the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder and cinnamon into a bowl. Stir in the quick-cooking oats, pecans and walnuts. Ensure all of it is evenly distributed with each other.
  3. Whisk the eggs, soft brown sugar, vegetable oil, yogurt and milk in a separate bowl.
  4. Add in the dry mixture to the wet mixture. Then, with the flat spatula or something to stir with, go about making 12 strokes to the mixture to ensure that the dry is wet.
  5. Then, using the 1/3 measuring cup, scoop the batter into the muffin pan.
  6. Baked in oven for 25-30 minutes (I put mine at 27 mins. and the top was going golden to a little golden brown for some... lol) and check with the toothpick test. Cool in pan for a few mins. then move the muffins onto a wire rack till it cools.
  7. Take a picture of the muffins.
My honest opinion about these muffins??
Mwahahhahaha... To tell the truth... I was basically so hooked on them I couldn't part with them at all... I just felt like eating them continuously after getting used to the yogurt taste...
They are addictive... Seriously... I couldn't separate myself from the muffins... They are addictive... Yes... so very addictive... I'll probably add another 1/4 cup of flour next time... cause I don't know why... but cooked, the muffins don't come apart from the muffin cups easily...hmm...and maybe more cinnamon because I barely tasted the cinnamon... 1tbsp next time... mwahahhahahaha... IT sounds crazy but I should test it out next time and see if it makes a difference, yeah?

Muse: Heartburn

I'm starting to think I'm having heartburn...
Cause my chest hurts when I'm not taking my medicine...
Yes... It sucks... so I'm going to do a little research and update all of you my results on foods to eat and avoid when suffering from heartburn...

Bran Muffins

Okay... Today I've finally tried Nancy Silverton's Bran Muffins Recipe I got from David Lebovitz's website...
http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2009/07/nancy-silvertons-bran-muffins/
What can I say?
I basically ate four of it in one day... Yes... that says a lot doesn't it???
mwahahhahahah.... I reduced the sugar to just 1/3 cup of brown sugar and switched wheat bran with oat bran because that's what I can easily find....
And I also switched whole wheat flour with oat flour because I don't have the former as well....
Well, it cooked alright... tasted alright... Will I cook this again?
Most probably if I have lots of raisins because I just finished my last supply of raisins which was in my fridge for I don't know how long.... yeah...
That's what I sincerely think about this whole thing... hahahhahahhaha...
I think I'm not going to eat any of the muffins for awhile... got kind of sick of the muffins... hehe...
Too many in one day... it's not goodie for me stomach...hahhahahahhaha

Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks

Yesterday, I've finally tried out ...
Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks XXL Crispy Chicken

According to the advertisement for the said product,
A large, tender and succulent piece of bone-in chicken breast, painstakingly marinated to perfection, coated with imported flour and fried to a golden crisp. A special blend of oriental spices is sprinkled on top of the crust, and the chicken is served uncut for maximum goodness. The XXL Crispy Chicken is best
eaten while hot.

Basically, at first, I thought it tasted alright... not bad but not that good at a pricey RM 6.50.
However, the more I ate it the more sick I felt eating it (towards the end). Other than that, I'm not sure if it's just me, but I think they're being very stingy with the meat (it's so little) if you would actually notice. The coating is thick. The chicken fat is thick but the chicken itself is so little.

It is filling to just eat one of that (I practically forced myself to chomp the whole thing down).

Well, in terms of recommending this snack, I'd say N-O. It is a sin to recommend something that I won't eat again.

However, yes.... there is a silver lining to this company...
I loved the Handmade Oyster Mee Sua.

Well, the taste needs you to be accustomed to it. and Since I AM quite a foodie, yes... the last time I ate it in Malacca, I really ate the whole thing down. Nice~! They were generous with everything and if I remember correctly, I almost licked my bowl clean. Yes, it's that good. So yeah, I'd go there for the funny Handmade Oyster Mee Sua and not the XXL Crispy Chicken next time... mwahahhahahha

Ain~ Gaining weight

I went out exercising with my one of my best schoolmates today...Ch'ng Shi Yunn!!!
AND you know what???
I have found out that most of the clothes I tried on looked ill-fitting on me... TT.TT
Not that there is no right size since it's mass-marketed, and etc but but most of the clothes look horrible on me... It stinks that I can't really go shopping even if I just want to try them on for fun!!!
Now... I'm starting to understand the struggle of those people trying to gain weight...
Because it is so hard to gain it back healthily... Seriously...
Oh well... Ganbatte... Hopefully I've gained half-a-kilo by the end of this week.

Simply Perfect Pancakes from King Arthur Flour

I also tried another recipe yesterday from King Arthur Flour,
http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/simply-perfect-pancakes-recipe

It tasted and looked like a regular pancake compared to my previous attempt from RasaMalaysia.com. So, I think I'll keep this recipe for pancakes in the future!

Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
I did a few changes, like substituting 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour with 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp quick-cooking oats blended in the blender and adding a grated apple into the mixture to keep it moist longer.

My younger sister prefers an eggier pancake so maybe I'll add an extra egg for her next time when I have honey for it to go along with her pancake. I on the other hand suggest eating it when it's just hot right off the stove to really enjoy it or microwave it before eating.
Directions
  1. Whisk the eggs and milk until light and foamy. Then stir in the vegetable oil.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the flours, salt, baking powder and sugar.
  3. Then, quickly mix the wet and the dry mixture together evenly and let it sit for approximately 15 minutes (the batter will thicken).
  4. Then, if you're poor like me and can't find a cooking spray, use a kitchen towel, dip it in oil and oil a sizzling frying pan (sufficiently hot to start cooking the pancakes).
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter into the pan and wait till you see lots of bubbles popping on the surface of the batter. Flip it now!
  6. Then, just wait awhile, check the other side to see if it's golden brown (or cooked pancake look), then voila! into the stomach it goes! (Basically, you only turn the pancakes over only once to get the cool pancake look)
This recipe is really simple, takes awhile to cook up with so stop wasting your money buying those pancake mixes in the stores... you can just donate the money to a poor unfortunate soul (like me). hehe...and this pancake is a wholegrain breakfast with the oatmeal in it... LOL... try it out if you're craving for the English pancake...

I ate my pancake with my tomato jam I previously posted about and it is, without doubt, DELICIOUS!

Apple Spice Bread

Today, I've tried a recipe from About.com... with a few renditions here and there, I think I'll do it more often~! hehe
This is the Apple Spice Cake Recipe I got from
http://southernfood.about.com/od/quickbreadrecipes/r/bl50823i.htm
The recipe given called for 2 loaves so I basically halved the recipe.

Well... I think I'll give my next adaptation here...
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups coarsely chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup melon seeds, toasted
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds, toasted
  • 1 teaspoons sugar mixed with a sprinkle of cinnamon

Preparation:

  1. Sift into a bowl, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar and oil. Beat in eggs and vanilla, then stir in chopped apples, raisins, and seeds.
  3. Add the dry ingredients and mix until well blended.
  4. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pans and line bottoms with waxed paper. Greased waxed paper(FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION OR THE CAKE WON"T COME OUT AND IT"LL LOOK HORRIBLE).
  5. Pour batter into pans, smoothing the top with a spatula or spoon. Bake for 20 minutes at 160°C. Pull out rack and sprinkle loaves with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Continue baking for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes; turn out onto a rack. Slice and serve or freeze.
The cake basically turned out quite moist, in my case with my not so pretty bread, sufficiently flavourful, not too sweet which is fantastic in my case, a little eggy ( thanks to me adding an extra large egg into the recipe) but all in all it was quite nice! I'm going to try adding a tsp of fennel seeds or a tsp of cumin seeds next time for an extra punch!

Carrot Raisin Bread

I've tried this recipe last week but due to my sister's camera which was out of battery the last time, I didn't post about it, hehe... but have no fear!!! I AM BACK! with my sister's camera!

So, I still referred to Eclectic Recipes for this but with just some alterations with the ingredients~
Carrot Raisin Bread
Carrot Raisin Bread 1
Carrot Raisin Bread 2
Ingredients
1 1/2 cup finely shredded carrots (I just used about 1 medium sized bowl that looked kind of full)
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt (I hope I used this amount because I accidentally sifted it with the flour so it didn't go in well, so I just presumed I readded it into flour with approximately the same amount...hehe... cause I didn't use a measuring spoon...hehe)
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg (AA the biggest one in the market)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup raisins (1/4 cup golden, 1/4 cup black)
2 tsp cinnamon (I used more than 2 tsp since mine is expired so it's less effective)
1/2 tsp nutmeg (same as the cinnamon)
1/2 cup of toasted seed (1/4 cup melon, 1/4 cup pumpkin)

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas 4.
  2. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Toast the seeds in a frying pan. Just stir it with a wooden spatula like I did with no oil.
  4. Grate carrot and add to large mixing bowl. Add sugar, molasses, salt, eggs, and oil. Mix very well.
  5. Then stir together the dry mixture (2) and wet mixture (4) together until just combined. Just try to get almost all of the flour wet with the mixture in my case.
  6. Then stir in raisins and toasted seeds. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and try to keep the batter even in the pan.
  7. Bake in an oiled loaf pan for 50-60 minutes, or until bread passes the toothpick test(mine was done in 50 minutes).

Tomato ginger jam from The New York Times

My latest food venture, other than bread is Tomato ginger jam!
I HONESTLY LOVE TOMATOES...
Tomato...tomato...tomato mato mato...Tomato... tomato...tomato mato mato...
Gosh... Tomato above sounds like the bananas in pajamas lyrics~!
XD....Okay... Enough said... IT WAS delicious... and I know I'm going to eat that jam with my bread tomorrow instead of that sickening sweet St. Daflour's Strawberry jam.
hehehehheehhee....XD
I'm in love with the jam~!
Okay...
Well... I did some adjustments to the recipe, added 1/2 a tablespoon of honey lime, more cloves than asked for, used fennel seeds instead of cumin seeds (cause I didn't know the difference until a few days ago) and I'd probably want to try the peppers with dried chili flakes next time...hehe

The link to the recipe is below...

and a little reference as well...

*sniff sniff... but I nicked myself while making the jam on Sunday...so be careful when you're coring the tomatoes if you're making it!!!
XD... I honestly didn't eat the jam till Tuesday cause my mom insisted on eating dim sum on Monday..TT.TT...ooh... Too bad I couldn't eat the jam earlier~!

Apple Caraway Bread from Eclectic Recipes

Woot~! Today I've finally started baking!!! GOSH!!! Okay...
So here's the picture~!
AppleB1

AppleB2

Apple Caraway Bread (a.k.a. Apple Cumin Bread)
Cumin and caraway seeds are one and the same. It's a seed of a herb, so it gives off a nice herb/spice flavour. In malay, caraway seeds are known as biji jintan.

This is basically the link to it...
http://eclecticrecipes.com/apple-caraway-bread
I'm not sure how to HTML this but if you do know how, do tell me, kay?

For this recipe, I basically followed it ingredient by ingredient.
Urm... Just the apple part though, I wasn't sure how many apples to use, so I used three granny smith apples, I presume that's 1 3/4 cup? and the oil I used was a 10% mixture of olive oil and 90% canola oil (due to lower saturation of fats compared to palm oil by 80%). Check it out here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooking_oil

LOL... Anyway... it was nice and filling. Got quite full eating just 2 slices of the bread simply as it is with a cup of milk. Hehehe... Nice and comfy in my tummy~!

___________________________________________________
LOL... I have to announce that I'm now the proud owner of a brand new pair of running shoes~!
Actually, during my study week in college, the second last week in college, I've already been doing research on what shoe I needed to buy if I'm going to keep running, cause I believe I can't be running in my sports shoe everywhere, it's not good for me feet...XD...
So I bought a pair of NEW shoes~! Yeah~!
Shoe2
It cost my mom RM 269, but it's from NewBalance, and cause I like it and cause I run a lot... So it's worth it~

So, what am I going to do with my old shoes???
Shoe1
Mwhahhahahhaha... I shall bring it to college for all the events that will dirty my shoe!!! This shoe survived a quick-mud (like quicksand but it's quick-mud) , so it will survive anything else~! Mwhaahhahhahhahhahahah

That's all from me today~!

People I've Met & Memories I've Built - Phase 8

Omo... I'm finally at my last phase~!!!! Yeah~! Gosh... I dedicated 2 days and all these phases for my memorial of the college...hahahahhahahhaaahha...okay... Last phase up~!

This phase is basically about my block's last meeting with the felo (Lecturer-in-charge) of my block. She basically gave us short and firm advice on our preparation for exams... Not to forget, the usual warning of "lights off after twelve". hahahhhaahhaha... (Hardest to follow warnings).

Alright..., so the entire wing managed to leave a dedication for her. A small portfolio of our pictures, autograph as well as our messages (if we left them).

A5Happy Teach
Look at how happy she is with our gift!!

Then, she distributed wooden plaques. I received two of them. One for my post and one as a humble member of the block!!

A5Plaque

With this, my college's memorial has reached an end. Hope you've enjoyed the memorial~!

People I've Met & Memories I've Built - Phase 7

This phase would be about me on an overnight stay in a chalet with my classmates, A2T6.

We basically departed early in the morning on a Saturday a week or two before my finals.

We also played a game called "Kavadi". It's a game played in ASEAN( if I'm not wrong, I was told this so I'm not sure about the facts). Well, I've played this twice before. Once in my Sports Festival Cheer and here as well. We're basically suppose to say "kavadi" while we're on offense, entering defendants territory and touch as many defendants before returning to safe territory. The defendants on the other hand are supposed to ensure the offender doesn't return to safe territory.

OOKavadi

At night, while waiting for the rest to shower~!

People I've Met & Memories I've Built - Phase 6

My block held a Masquerade! Yeah, the only event where we can wear whatever we want to the Main Halls.

A5M

Notice the colour difference in the words Masquerade? hahahhahhahha... Well, my Block Vice-Head isn't quite a good speller so I was surprised at the lack of letters... hahhahahah...
Oh well, so I managed to cut the right letter with some scraps. hahahhahahah... well... better that than suffer the humiliation of not knowing how to spell the words of my block's main event right!

We had a blast~! Though, since my wing performed first, we weren't left with much food. So, I had to suck up and go around asking the other tables for the food which they took in excess to feed my hungry wing mates. Anyhow, we still enjoyed the event!

A5MRoommates&Teds
Me and my roommates all took pictures with the giant teddy bear~! Hahahhahahahahaha

A5MChinese
Me with the rest of the Chinese in my block.

Not to forget, the room in front of mine. The girl in black is my dorm head, Nur Hidayah binti Selamat.

The transformation I underwent for the entire event~! I sat right at the back~!

People I've Met & Memories I've Built - Phase 5

Gosh... Fourth phase already... alright... Next up is a post on my Block Sports Event.
Well, I'm part of the Block Committee as the Head of Cheeriness, ahem.... so I did need to do a little work and directing but that's just a tweeny bit. hahahahhahaha.... Well... Anyway... My wing chose the colour black to compete... but since black is already taken, I suggested adding the batik wrap you see me wearing down there... This colour difference is used to differentiate which wing we are from.

My felo block (Lecturer-in-charge) of my block was pregnant at the point of time, so she couldn't join us in the field. Hence, she gave us a short briefing on what to take care of, precautions on the field and even warned us what not to do in the block (switch of the lights after twelve). Hahhahahahaha

Well, I'll post a few pictures of just some of the games played.

A5SEgg

The game played was spooning the egg with your mouth for a distance and returning to the original spot after that.

A5SRubber

hehhehehe... The lazy game I played was transferring the rubber using straws. Yup... just transferring the rubber bands through straws from one end to other end without walking. Yeah... pass the rubber to your wing mates by solo straw you're using to hold the rubber band.

A5SFlour

The game that got most dirty. Basically, you're supposed to grab as many sweets as you can with your mouth. The catch? The sweets are all burried in the flour and you can't use your hands to grab them.

A5SWaiting

That's all, I suppose, for my post on my Block Sport's Event~!

People I've Met & Memories I've Built - Phase 4

Well, I joined the Christian Fellowship...(unofficially) at least.
mwahahhahahhaha....
So I managed to go to Church I twice during my whole stay there <*approx. 10 months>.

These are some of the friends I've met there. Taken at the humble church nearby the post office.

People I've Met & Memories I've Built - Phase 3

The Big Day... The real thing... The Sports Festival.
If I'm not wrong, the Sports Festival was three days...
From 24/7/2010 to 26/7/2010. It should be on those three days to say the least because I remember missing celebrating my mom's birthday with her thanks to this sports festival...yeah... I am being sardonic.

Oh well, hehehehe... back to blogging about the sports festival.
Before we left, we took formal pictures in full costume. Fully funded by the Malacca government.

KKGroup2

This costume is what all 'athletes' have to wear when they march for the opening ceremony.

Next picture up is the door to my room.

KKatlet

Gosh, the rooms here (Johor Matriculation College) have full-length mirrors, fire proof and auto-lock doors and bars to assist the disabled people in the room.
Almost everything here feels quite new but I personally think their toilet stinks because it's just plain dirty and clogged.

Then, the basketball team posed for pictures in front of our Malacca headquarters!!

KKGroup1

Well, the next picture up is with a guy whose birthday falls on the same day as my mom's birthday~! Yeah... what a coincidence, right? hahhahhahahah... Yeah... Fanny, my classmate is also part of the Sports Festival; girl's volleyball that came up as the second runner's up during this National's event.

KKb'dayboy

Hahhahahahaha... the final picture here is to do the basketball boys justice. hahahahha...Their previous picture wasn't quite clear, right, in phase 2? Well...a~hem...They brought back Silver medallions (unlike us, girls which returned with nothing except sore throats...hahahahhahaa_).

KKbkbguys

And let's not forget the lecturers looking after us, the basketball girls group~!
